Fan Mail: There’s an AP for That Edition

Students and teachers give the College Board a lot of feedback. You might think we don’t see the notes, the tweets, the memes, but we do. We know you have questions, comments, and complaints—and we have answers (or maybe just responses). And if there's something you'd like to ask or tell us, email us at [email protected]. (Is that a feedback loop?)

File Under: STEM Sell

At the beginning of the year, I was unsure and unconfident in my programming skills. AP CSP showed me that with a push in the right direction, I could create a project that solved a real-world problem just from my pure imagination! Don't ever be afraid to try new things. It’ll be rewarding. The reward is often greater than the risk. (AP Computer Science Principles student, 2019)

We’re glad to hear it. That’s good advice in general, but for computer science in particular. The world needs more creative, talented people in technology—especially as software continues to devour the world. (You might like our interview with Clive Thompson, author of the book Coders: The Making of a New Tribe and the Remaking of the World.)

I really love teaching the AP Environmental Science course. I have had several students tell me it should be a mandatory course for all students, and I mostly agree … The current state of the world requires this knowledge. (AP Environmental Science teacher, Texas)

File Under: Deep Thoughts

It’s not only the material for the course that makes it a desire to learn, but those who surround make it an experience. (Class of 2020 student, Wisconsin)

If we were handing out scores for big-picture, philosophical perspective, you’d get a 6.

File Under: Et tu, Badger State?

Sorry about bashing college board during AP Lang test, it was all in jest and in irony (Class of 2020 student, Wisconsin)

We know you don’t mean to badger us, and we know things said in jest are things said best.
